William Robert Rodgers, son of John and Ruby Squire Rodgers, was born March 25, 1929, at Arlington, Iowa. He attended country school in the Arlington area and served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
On December 5, 1953, he was united in marriage with Mary L. “Mae” Allen at the United Methodist Church in Arlington. The couple farmed south of Randalia since 1957.
Bob’s death occurred on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union. He was eighty-three years old.
He is survived by one step-son, William D. Miller; four step-grandchildren, Beth (Tracy) Delfante, Scott Miller, Jennifer Miller, and Lori Sitterle; four step-great grandchildren, Audrey Delfante, Jacob and Paige Sitterle, and Sebastain Miller; one sister, Maxine Peters of Waterloo; and one brother, Dale (Marilyn) Rodgers of Tipton.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife on October 9, 1999; his parents; four sisters, Doris, Neola, Fonda, and Darlene; one brother, George; and two step-brothers, LeRoy and Harold Ward.
Graveside services with military rites provided by Ross Reid Post #9, American Legion of Oelwein will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Fayette.
